MEXICO CITY - Mexico's Agriculture Department is denying reports that the United States will close its borders to some Mexican produce. The department says it knows of no U.S. plan to stop imports of Mexican cilantro and jalapeno peppers, contrary to U.S. media reports. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is investigating the source of a rare salmonella outbreak that has sickened more than 900 people in the U.S. The FDA has been testing tomatoes from Mexico and Florida in its search for the source of the outbreak.
